An outstanding weekend for Alex and his team MP Motorsport with two wins from two races, and in qualifying a pole and a second place on the grid by .007 of a second!
Alex took part in the first round of the Formula Renault NEC series which is a feeder category to the high profile Eurocup in which he normally races. The intention was to gain more experience with his new team and prepare for the Eurocup race in Monaco at the end of May. He was there in good company with the Eurocup leader and many other Eurocup contenders also there to prepare for Monaco.
Weather played a significant role with constant rainfall and cold temperatures on both Saturday and Sunday.
In Qualifying 1 Alex was pipped for pole position by his teammate Christian Lundgaard by only .007 of a second. Due to the wet conditions the race started under safety car and was then released. With only 2 laps to go Alex closed up to the back of Lundgaard who made a small mistake and Alex was through for the win in incredibly difficult conditions.
In Qualifying 2 Alex secured pole. The race was again started under safety car due to the significant rainfall but was again released and Alex took a good lead that reduced right down in the last couple of laps as he made his way through a number of lapped cars.
A great weekend on one of the most difficult tracks in Europe!
