The 2018 Eurocup kicked of on the 13-15 April at the Paul Ricard in France with constantly variable weather conditions.
Friday’s two free practice sessions were in wet conditions that improved for qualifying on Friday evening when Alex took 7th on the starting grid for Race 2 on Sunday. Saturday morning qualifying, setting starting positions for Race 1 that same day, saw Alex drop down the standings a little and secure 11th grid position.
In Race 1 Alex was off to an amazing start and passed a number of cars into the first corner. On the exit of corner one the wing of the car behind Alex grazed his rear tyre and the subsequent puncture forced him to retire.
In Race 2 on Sunday Alex started 7th and ended 7th so he leaves round 1 with 6 points and 10th position in the championship. We look forward to seeing Alex grow with his new team in the next events.
Monza immediately follows Paul Ricard on the 20th-22nd April.
