Alex went into the Silverstone event 9th in the championship and was looking to return to some solid point scoring.
In the unusual UK Friday heat Alex showed immediately that he was on the pace and eventually qualified 6th in the 30 strong field. His lap time was initially deleted by the stewards for an alleged track limits infringement but following an appeal by the team his lap time was reinstated.
Temperatures for race 1 on Saturday dropped dramatically and grip levels changed but a solid race saw Alex finish 6th which gave him 8 points and a grid 5 starting position for race 2 on Sunday.
Race 2 got off to a good start and Alex was 4th in a small group with the leader. All 4 drivers were on very similar times and they struggled to find passing opportunities. Alex crossed the line 4th at less than two seconds from the leader who was eventually penalised for weaving and handed a 5 second penalty. This promoted Alex to a podium finish and allowed him to move back into 8th in the championship.
Another event to look forward to in Silverstone coming up!
